Posted November 02, 2019 16:16:48 A young gambling enthusiast is betting he can beat his friend to the title of world number one after being declared the tournament’s top player in a game of poker.

John Carlyn, 23 was crowned the World Goggles Player of the Year at the world’s first ever poker tournament organised by the WGA.
“We knew we had a good chance at winning,” John-Paul said.
“I knew I was going to be one of the top players in the world and that’s why I’ve got this chip on my shoulder.”
I’ve been playing poker for a long time and this was my first time playing at the Casino.
“The only thing I want to do now is win it and get the world record.”
A group of six players, including John-Michael, played the Morongs Morongo casino on Saturday night to claim the title.
John-David Carleton won the tournament at the venue with a total of $14,000.
The WGA has been organising the Moronan Casino Games since 2007, and the Moroni tournament is a two-week tournament of up to 100 slots and $10,000 in cash.
John Carlin is the second Australian player to become World Gogles Player of The Year.
He also won the WGC in 2017.
John Paul Carleton and his wife, Claire were both declared World Goggles Players of the year at the tournament.
Mr Carleton is hoping to secure his second WGA world title this year, following his triumph in the Moronga tournament.
His friend, Claire Carleton also won a $1,000 prize for winning the tournament, and both men are hoping they can become the youngest ever player to win two titles at one time.
“There’s no doubt we’ve had our fair share of ups and downs in life but to have the WGGA honour us with our titles is really special,” Claire Carlin said.
John and Claire have already started their own online poker ventures, and have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help them out.
“That’s really going to help us with the living expenses and it’s going to keep us going until we get there,” John said.
A GoFundMew fund has also been set up to help John with his bills.
“My main priority is to keep playing poker and get to the world championship, but I know the rest of the world will also like to see us win,” Claire said.
